Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) () is a university located in Beijing, China. It is China's foremost foreign language teaching university according to recent collegiate rankings.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=高校排名:2014年中国语言类大学排行榜 )〕 The university's campus occupies 304,553 square meters, with a student dormitory area of 40,000 m² and a library of 9997 m², and is divided in two by Beijing's Third Ring Road. Other facilities on campus include an audiovisual center, a gymnasium, dining halls, and tennis courts. The university is popularly known as ''Běiwài'' () in Mandarin and BFSU in English. As a renowned teaching university, BFSU was affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from its establishment in 1941 to the early 1980s and was classified a key university under the Ministry of Education. The wide ranging studies at BFSU are provided by over 600 faculty members, in addition to approximately 120 international experts and teachers invited from more than 20 countries each year.
